Frequently asked questions
What’s free, and what does Lumi Pro add?
Free forever, with no time limit: flashlight, SOS, white screen light with color temperature, preset colors, full-screen gestures and the sleep timer.
Limited to 10 free minutes a week: flashlight strobe, breathe, Morse code and candle; the color wheel; Extra Bright; screen strobe; effects; and LED text.
Lumi Pro is a one-time purchase. It removes the weekly limit, lets you save more than 3 scenes, unlocks alternate app icons, and includes all future features. There is no subscription.
How do the 10 free minutes work?
All limited features share 10 minutes a week. Time only counts while a limited feature is actually lit; using the flashlight and screen together counts once. You’ll see a reminder when 30 seconds are left. The time resets every Monday at 00:00 your local time. SOS never uses your free time.
How do I restore my purchase?
Make sure you’re signed in to the same Apple Account you used to buy Lumi Pro, then go to Settings › Restore Purchase in the app. Lumi Pro moves with your Apple Account to new devices.
Can my family share Lumi Pro?
No. Lumi Pro isn’t available through Family Sharing; each Apple Account needs its own purchase.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple Account.
Why can’t the flashlight change color?
The iPhone flashlight is a white LED, so it can only change brightness. For colored light, use the Screen light.
The flashlight says it’s unavailable.
The flashlight turns off when your iPhone gets too warm, or when another app (such as the Camera) is using it. Let your iPhone cool down or close the other app, then try again.
Why does the light turn off when I leave the app?
By default, Lumi turns off all lights when you leave the app, so your iPhone doesn’t heat up in your pocket. You can change this in Settings › Turn Off on Exit.
I can’t find Extra Bright.
Extra Bright goes beyond standard screen brightness and is only shown on iPhone models whose display supports it.
How do I add Lumi to widgets, Control Center or Shortcuts?
- Home Screen or Lock Screen: Touch and hold an empty area, tap Edit › Add Widget, then search for Lumi.
- Control Center: Open Control Center, tap +, then search for Lumi.
- Shortcuts and Siri: Lumi’s actions appear in the Shortcuts app automatically.
Does Lumi collect my data or need the internet?
No. Lumi works offline and collects no data. See our Privacy Policy.
Photosensitivity safety
Some modes flash. If you or anyone nearby has photosensitive epilepsy or is sensitive to flashing lights, please be careful.
- Lumi shows a warning the first time you use a flashing feature.
- Strobe is limited to 3 Hz by default. You can change the limit in Settings › Strobe Limit, and Lumi asks you to confirm before going above it.
- Never point the flashlight directly at anyone’s eyes.
- Stop using flashing modes right away if you feel unwell.
